 MISSION, VISION & VALUES

Mission Statement
To be the northern opportunity for community and sport development. 

Vision Statement
To gain province-wide recognition as a respected, dynamic leader and partner in community and sport development because of our achievement in fostering successful Games.

Objectives

  1. To promote awareness of good health, physical fitness, individual achievement, community pride, and sport in the northern communities of British Columbia.

  2. To encourage grassroots sport development programs involving the greatest number of people possible participating in their own community. 

  3. To provide basic and intermediate levels of competition for those sports presently or not presently established in the northern areas. 

  4. To provide a stimulating opportunity for officials and coaches to receive further training and experience.

Values Statements

Values are the guiding principles for decision making and policy development. The following are important in guiding the future of the Northern BC Winter Games Society. 

  1. The Northern BC Winter Games Society is forward thinking and looks to maximize opportunities.

  2. Partnerships with the BC Games Society, Provincial Sport Organizations, funders, and sponsors are essential to the Northern BC Winter Games Society. 

  3. Volunteer recruitment, retention, recognition, and a clear definition of roles and responsibilities are important to the effective operation of the Northern BC Winter Games Society. 

  4. Board policy development focus is mindful of removing barriers to participation for athletes. 

  5. The Northern BC Winter Games Society brand and identity is clear and prominent.

  6. Community uniqueness is recognized and valued through the sport package and Host Community characteristics. 

  7. Northern BC Winter Games Society Directors will function as a "team" in policy development and decision making and all Directors and Regional Representatives will adhere to and support group decisions. 

  8. Communication affecting the quality of the Games is everyone's responsibility.
