Cathy Priestner Allinger, Chair

An Olympic medalist in speed skating, Cathy has been involved with all aspects of sport and sport management. Most recently, Cathy was Executive Vice President, Sport and Games Operations with VANOC.  Prior to this, she was the Managing Director of Games Operations for the Torino 2006 Olympic Winter Games and became the first female Managing Director of Sport for the Salt Lake 2002 Games.  Cathy is an Olympic Order recipient and inductee of the Canadian Hall of Fame and Olympic Hall of Fame.

Susan Archibald

With close to 30 years experience in marketing and communications, strategic planning, event management and sponsorship, Susan has held marketing positions with the Vancouver Whitecaps, the UBC Athletic Department, the Rick Hansen Man in Motion World Tour, Canada’s Challenge for the America’s Cup, the BC Dairy Foundation, the Mark Anthony Group, Mission Hill Family Estate Winery, and 2010 Legacies Now.  Susan is currently President of Suda Solutions Ltd., an independent marketing and communications firm.  Her community involvement includes past Board positions for the BC Chapter of the American Marketing Association, the Richmond Olympic Oval and Chair of Bogor Expatriate School.  Susan and her husband Dave sponsor two foster children in Indonesia through Plan International and have a daughter of their own named Lauren.  Susan holds a Bachelor of Physical Education from UBC and a Master of Arts in Sport Management and Administration from the University of Western Ontario.  She is also a former competitive diver and coach.

Sue Bock

Sue, President of Bock and Associates, is a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) of the International Coach Federation (ICF) and Associate Faculty member of Royal Roads University.  She is a business consultant and trainer and a licensed facilitator, offering organizations and leaders over 25 years of well-rounded experience in HR strategies and leadership development.  An active member of her community, Sue has held a number of key roles in a volunteer capacity highlighting her current role as Second-Vice Chair of the British Columbia Chamber of Commerce, as well as many roles within the BC Winter and BC Summer Games.  Sue lives in Trail, BC with her husband, where together they have raised three sons and are enjoying being empty-nesters, grandparents, and travelers.

Kjeld Brodsgaard

Hometown: Victoria
Kjeld has lived in Victoria since 1965 and is retired from teaching.  Sports have always been a large part of his life and he has been involved as a coach, competitor, administrator, organizer, and official.  Kjeld was the Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the 1993 Commonwealth Wrestling Championships, Sport Chair of Wrestling for the 1994 Commonwealth Games, Director of the Victoria organizing committee responsible for transportation, security (U19 only), accommodations, training venues, and liaisons for the U19 Women’s and the U20 FIFA World Cup of Soccer.  Kjeld was the President of the Vancouver Island Soccer League for 6 years is currently the Vice President Senior of the BC Soccer Association.  In addition Kjeld has officiated at a number of Northern BC Winter Games and BC Summer Games along with 19 World Championships and two Olympic Games in the sport of wrestling and numerous other events throughout BC, Canada and the World.  Kjeld continues to lace up the soccer boots, plays tennis and enjoys hiking the beautiful trails and parks in BC with his wife Kathy.

Jamie Choi

Jamie is a Certified General Accountant with the Art Institute of Vancouver.  Prior to joining the Art Institute, Jamie established and managed the office of Snap-On Tools in Seoul, South Korea.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Ewha Woman’s University in South Korea and completed the Certified Public Accountant program.

Dena Coward

Dena was the Director of Paralympic Games with VANOC.  Previously, she was the Director of Sport Tourism with 2010 Legacies Now, the Manager of Transportation and Paralympic Games with the Vancouver 2010 Bid Corporation, and an Event Management Consultant with the BC Games Society.  Dena has served as a director with ProMOTION Plus Victoria, an advisory committee member with Camosun College Sport Administration, was the Assistant Chef de Mission with the 2001 Canada Summer Games, Team BC, and an event services volunteer with the Sydney 2000 Olympic Summer Games.  Dena holds a bachelor of Physical Education from the University of Manitoba.

Moira Gookstetter

Hometown: Richmond

Moira grew up in Vancouver and has been involved with sport all her life.  As a BC Games alumni from the 1982 Games in Vernon in Track and Field, Moira went on to compete in shot put at the national level, representing Canada on two occasions.  Moira obtained a bachelor of arts degree in geography and political science from the University of Victoria and also holds a designation as a Certified Fundraising Professional (CFRE).  Currently, Moira is employed as the CEO for Gymnastics BC and has worked as a sport administrator for over 18 years at all levels of the BC sport system.  Moira has been married to her husband Roger for 12 years and has a 9 year old son, Riley.

Wade Loukes

Hometown: Prince George

Wade grew up in Victoria, but has lived in Northern BC since 1994.  Currently, he is employed in the community arenas division for the City of Prince George and has worked in municipal recreation since his move north.  Wade holds a bachelor of arts degree in Sociology from UVIC and while at UVIC, he played varsity basketball from 1984 to 1989.  Following a stint of professional basketball in Australia, he began coaching basketball at the junior high and high school levels.  Wade has volunteered with the Northern BC Winter Games Society since 1994, serving in various capacities, but currently is the society's President.  Along and his wife Krista, have two girls (Hannah and Rachel) and as a result Wade spends much of his free time in their arts and sport programs.

Renee McCloskey

Hometown: Prince George

Growing up on the shores of Nukko Lake in Prince George, Renee has participated in a number of BC Games as an amateur water skier in the 1980's and 90's. Since then, Renee has been involved in the sport community in Prince George in many ways, including holding a volunteer position as the Communications Director for the highly successful 2007 RBC Royal Bank Cup National Junior A Hockey Championship. For more than 25 years, her family has operated the Nukko Lake Water Ski School. Renee is the Manager of External Relations with the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George and has extensive experience in communications and public relations. She has also worked in sport tourism, economic development, and health care. In her free time, Renee and her husband enjoy a good workout, chasing after their young son.

Byron McCorkell

Hometown: Kamloops
Byron grew up in Saskatoon, SK and currently is employed as the Director of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services for the City of Kamloops.   Byron attended the University of Saskatchewan where he received a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education (BSPE) and a Bachelor of Arts in Geography (BA).  Byron played varsity Football with the Huskies from 1983 to 1988 and was selected as part of  the "All Canadian All Star Team" in 1988.  Byron has worked in sport and recreation since 1989, working as a Sport Coordinator and Recreation Director in Kindersley, SK and Yorkton, SK before coming to BC.  Byron has worked with various  Provincial and National Tournaments and events as well as Saskatchewan Winter and Summer Games, the 2006 BC Summer Games, and most recently the 2011 Western Canada Summer Games Host Societies.  Byron and his wife Cindy have three daughters very active in Highland Dance and a variety of sports.

Dorothy J Paul

Hometown: Saanichton 
Dorothy brings a wealth of experience to the Board. She is from Old Masset Village, Tsawataineuk, and Scottish heritage. In 1997 she was the Operations Manager (one of two staff members) for over 900 Team BC athletes attending the North American Indigenous Games (NAIG) held in Victoria. In 2002, Dorothy was the Chef de Mission for Team BC for the NAIG Games held in Winnipeg. Dorothy, with only a six month time frame, organized, mobilized, and brought Team BC to Winnipeg. In Winnipeg, Team BC was voted the "Best Team to work with and the most organized Team" by the volunteers. For the 2006 NAIG Games, Dorothy was responsible for the organization, identification, and selection of the six soccer teams who went to Denver, Colorado. Dorothy is one of two Master Facilitators for the Aboriginal Coaching Manual and an Introduction to Competition Learning Facilitator. Dorothy is still active playing soccer and lacrosse.
 

Anoop Sharma

As an active member of his community, Anoop is also a Board member of the BC Disability Games Society. He is involved in the Lower Mainland Cricket League, theatre and music organizations, as well as hosting a weekly radio show on UBC Radio. Anoop has two Masters degrees from UBC in Business Administration and Project Management, along with a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering. His professional experience ranges from large industrial projects, internet start-ups, offshore software development outsourcing, and project management and business consulting. Anoop believes in giving back to his community and helping people with a disability to achieve their goals in life both personally and professionally.

Sharon White

Hometown: Victoria
 
Sharon is currently employed as a Sport Consultant and Policy Analyst with the Sport Branch of the Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultutal Development. As a member of the Mission Staff for the London 2001 Canada Summer Games, Sharon assisted in the area of communications and logistics. As an athlete, official, and race organizer, Sharon understands the importance of grassroots development and support for sport and recreation.
