Kelly began work with the BC Games Society in November 1992 as an Event Manager, and has subsequently worked with volunteers in close to eighty communities to plan and implement BC Games.
As President and CEO, his firm belief in the philosophy of lead the leaders, wherein volunteers are empowered to give their creativity, enthusiasm, and hard work to stage the BC Games has helped shape the BC Games as a national leader of sport, community, and volunteer development.
Kelly has the overall responsibility for the staging of the BC Summer and BC Winter Games and for the service agreement with the BC Seniors Games. He also has oversight on the Olympic legacy initiatives of VolWeb and Hosting BC.
Working with the Provincial Government and the Host Community, the , provincial sport organizations, other sport agencies, and private industry, he manages all aspects of administrative and financial operations of the BC Games. He additionally recognizes the need to develop strategic alliances with others in the provincial and national sport systems in order to continue/expand quality experiences and opportunities for athletes, coaches, officials, parents, and volunteers.
Raised in Victoria, Kelly is married with two active children. He was a founding Chair of KidSport Greater Victoria, a charity which supports disadvantaged children in pursuing their sport opportunities. Kelly is also a member of a variety of work-related and community-based committees. Kelly sits as a community volunteer with the Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence.
For a period prior to, and during the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, Kelly was an Olympic Ambassador. One of approximately 50 nationwide, this role supported VANOCs efforts to present the finest Olympic and Paralympic Games ever.

Victoria Christison
Administrative Assistant

As the Administrative Assistant, Victoria provides administrative support to the Event Managers, to the President and CEO, and the Executive Assistant. In addition, she assists with the registration and transportation process for the BC Summer and BC Winter Games and with her background in New Media Design, Victoria’s responsibilities often extend to include small projects to enhance the communication and marketing aspects of the Society.
While once highly involved in sport in the capacity of coach and recreational athlete, Victoria now prefers to spend most of her time outside work with her husband Rob and young daughter Raeya. For the time being, Victoria’s extracurricular sport activities are comprised of early morning runs, family hikes and toddler time at the pool. |

Jennifer Halfhide
Event Manager

As an Event Manager for the BC Games Society since 2006, Jennifer Halfhide assists Host Community volunteers in the planning, operation, and staging of the BC Winter Games and the BC Seniors Games. Jennifer is also the staff liaison to the BC Seniors Games Society.
Prior to joining the BC Games Society, Jennifer’s work experience included roles as the Executive Director of the Oaklands Community Association, Recreation & Special Events Coordinator for the Fairfield Community Association and Recreation Programmer with the District of Saanich.
Jennifer is also an active community volunteer, having been involved as a participant of the Leadership Victoria program, Chair of the City of Victoria Community Centres’ Network, member of the Youth Engineering and Science Camps of Canada Board of Directors, and founder of the BC Chapter of the Canadian Association for Girls in Science.
In 1996, Jennifer received a University of Victoria Leadership Award for her contributions to UVic and the community. Jennifer is inspired and motivated by the passion and commitment demonstrated by the community volunteers she works with and says that working in the Host Communities is one of the best parts of her job.

Slavka Haskova

As the Administrative Assistant, Slavka provides administrative support to the Event Managers, the President and CEO, and the Executive Assistant, this includes preparing the Guidelines for the Host Community for the BC Summer and BC Winter Games as well as for the BC Seniors Games and the Northern BC Winter Games.
Slavka came to Canada from Slovakia to study English. After receiving her ESL diploma she pursued her studies in Business Administration. One of her passions is travelling and learning languages (she now speaks five). She enjoys spending time with her two Shelties and in her one-acre garden overlooking the water.

Andrew Pitre

As an Event Manager for the BC Games Society Andrew assists Host Community volunteers in the planning, operation, and staging of the BC Summer Games and the BC Seniors Games.
Andrew has extensive work experience in sport and Games operation. He previously worked with the University of Victoria and Vikes Recreation, Field Hockey Canada, and PacificSport Canadian Sport Centre. Further, Andrew was involved in the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games, the Commonwealth Games, and the Team BC program (Western Canada Summer and Canada Games).
Andrew enjoys spending time with his family, wife and two little girls. He volunteers on the Executive Board and serves as the Fundraising Chair with Lambrick Park Preschool and Childcare, a co-operative parent volunteer community school that creates a "Learning Through Play" environment for preschoolers. He finds other life balance by getting lost on a bicycle and various outdoor adventures.

Byron Postle

Byron has been working in the field of sport and recreation for over 21 years. His work has included program delivery, municipal parks and recreation long range planning, sport administration, and event management. He was an event manger for the BC Games Society from 1999 to 2006 before leaving to be an at-home parent and work part time as an independent consultant.
Byron will be an Event Manager for the BC Games Society while Jennifer Halfhide is on maternity leave. He will assist Host Community volunteers in the planning, operation, and staging of the BC Winter Games and the BC Seniors Games. Byron will also be the staff liaison to the BC Seniors Games Society.
Byron is actively involved as a volunteer in his community. He coaches youth basketball and baseball, sits on the executive of the Gordon Head Baseball Association and the Greater Victoria Baseball Association, maintains the Saanich Tennis Club website, and volunteers his time to help Kidsport Greater Victoria.
Byron has been married to Melanie for 21 years and they have three wonderful children.

Glenda Rae

Glenda has been involved in 52 BC Games having been employed with the BC Games since 1978.
As Executive Assistant, Glenda provides support to the President and CEO and the BC Games Society Board of Directors and is responsible for the management of the Administrative Team. Glenda also manages the day-to-day financial administration of the Society and is responsible for the overall operations of the BC Games office.
Glenda’s love of children has led to her volunteer work as an In-School Mentor with Big Brothers, Big Sisters.
Glenda admits that her favourite roles are that of mother and grandmother.

Jennie Reimer

Jennie is the newest member of the BC Games Society team, joining at the beginning of September 2011 to fill Victoria Christison’s Administrative Assistant position while Victoria is on maternity leave. Her role is to provide administrative support to the Event Managers, the Executive Assistant, and the President and CEO. Due to her background in catering and the hospitality industry, Jennie also finds herself organizing the staff Christmas party.
Jennie grew up volunteering at numerous multi-sport events, coaching and refereeing high school volleyball and playing on island and provincial level teams. She participated in baseball, basketball, swimming, athletics and soccer but her favorites are indoor and outdoor volleyball. In 1999 as part of an exchange program she was selected to travel to Osaka, Japan to join a high school team for a month and later played for the Camosun College Chargers.
Although Jennie played numerous sports while growing up, she now finds it hard to fit competitive or recreational sports into her busy work schedule. When she does have time, she will most likely be out on the golf course practicing her swing or crafting greeting cards at home.

Irene Schell

Irene has volunteered and worked in sport administration in BC since 1989. Since 1999 she has been with the BC Games Society where she is an Event Manager and also serves as the Technology Manager for the organization. In her position, she provides support and resources to community volunteers as they plan and stage the BC Games. She also oversees all computer and technology requirements for the society, including maintaining the society’s custom registration software and providing training to staff and volunteers. And she manages the partnerships with sports included in the BC Summer Games.
During her tenure in the sport system, Irene has worked and/or volunteered at over 40 multi-sport Games including Northern BC Winter Games, BC Games, Western Canada Summer Games, Canada Games, and Olympic Games. She also served as the Chef de Mission for Team BC for the 2011 Western Canada Summer Games which were held in Kamloops.
Irene is the Past Chair of ProMOTION Plus (the provincial organization for girls and women in sport and physical activity), a member of the Sport BC Board, and has been an In-school Mentor with Big Brothers and Big Sisters since 1999.

Lia Threlfall

Lia joined the BC Games Society in 2003 as Communications and Event Manager.
In her role as the Communications Manager, she is responsible for planning and implementing communications initiatives for the BC Games Society including branding and media relations. Lia also builds and maintains partnerships with companies and organizations in the corporate and sport sectors.
Lia has a passion for sport having been involved as an athlete, coach, volunteer, and administrator. She firmly believes that sport builds community. As a volunteer, Lia is involved with the BC Wheelchair Sports Association and the University of Victoria Women’s Field Hockey Alumni Association.
Lia is married and mother to two young children.

Chris Trenholme

Chris assists Host Community volunteers in the planning, operation, and staging of the BC Winter Games. In addition, he manages the bidding process for the BC Summer and BC Winter Games, the participant registration and external transportation processes for each BC Games, oversees risk management for the organization, and oversees the partnerships with each BC Winter Games Provincial Sport Organization and as such, works closely with the Sport Committee on the implementation of the Core Sport policy.
A former National Team Coach and Manager, and retired world-ranked badminton player, Chris has been with the BC Games Society since 2001.
Chris' volunteer initiatives has included serving on the Badminton BC Board of Directors as the VP – High Performance and the Community School Interviews (CSI) Program. He currently serves on a board overseeing the development of Victoria's first clay court tennis club and provides ongoing support of his local church.
