Successful Greater Vernon 2012 BC Winter Games come to a close

The Greater Vernon 2012 BC Winter Games ended Sunday with the final medals handed out and 1,145 athletes from across the province headed for home with memories of what will be, for many of them, a once-in-a-lifetime experience.  Fierce competition in 15 sports gave participants a taste of what it is like to perform in a multi-sport environment.

Community Recreation Program

BC Games Society Congratulates Award Winners

 

 

 

Eight BC Games alumni were nominated for individual awards and another 18 were members of the Team of the Year nominees.  Taking home top honors were alumni Maelle Ricker (Senior Female Athlete), Denny Morrison (Community Champion), Ray Carter (Daryl Thompson Award), and Christine Wong (Junior Female).  The UBC Women’s Volleyball Team, with seven BC Games alumni took home Team of the Year honours.

As part of its strategic plan, 2010 Legacies Now is transferring programs such as the HostingBC.ca website to trusted partners to ensure communities continue to benefit from these investments as a legacy of the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
