 Celebrating BC Games Volunteers Minimize

At any given time in over 100 communities across the province, BC Games volunteers are working tirelessly to provide opportunities for BC's best developing athletes to compete at the BC Summer and BC Winter Games.

Since 1978, the BC Summer and BC Winter Games have been staged in over 35 communities in BC. Through the years the BC Games have evolved, grown, and changed, but what has remained constant is the commitment and dedication of volunteers. The BC Games Society relies on volunteers in every facet of its operation.

Volunteers make up the Society's community-based Board of Directors while others hold positions as Sport Provincial Advisors and Zone Representatives.

Volunteers also work directly on the Games in the communities, as Directors, Committee Chairs, and as Games-time volunteers who perform various functions from reporting results, to running sport events, to serving food to participants.

BC Games volunteers ensure that citizens come together in a community celebration of pride and enthusiasm, that athletes have a quality multi-sport experience that will assist them as they continue through their development, and that coaches and officials gain experience and opportunities that will further develop sport in our province.

Simply put, volunteers are essential to the BC Games and contribute greatly to the successes of the organization.
