Judo BC's James Chevrette receives Presidents' Award

The BC Games Society is proud to recognize James Chevrette of Kamloops as the recipient of this year’s Presidents’ Award for his contributions as the Provincial Advisor for Judo for the BC Winter Games.

The Provincial Advisor role is one of the most important roles for success of a sport in the Games, and as such, Chevrette's leadership is highly valued and appreciated.  Chevrette helped Judo BC make significant improvements over the past two years to increase the numbers of participants from across the province.

Chevrette became involved with the BC Games in 2006 as a coach for the Thompson Okanagan Zone 2.  He has seen first-hand the impact the Games can have on athletes and their families.  "Every athlete, regardless of geography, deserves a shot at excellence, and we are going to give them that chance," said Chevrette.

The Presidents' Awards promote and celebrate the spirit of volunteerism by giving provincial sport organizations an opportunity to acknowledge and thank an individual who has demonstrated outstanding dedication and commitment to their sport.  This provincial recognition is one of the highest honours held for volunteers in all areas of sport.
