The Fraser River (Zone 4) synchronized swimmers didn’t have a lot of time to learn the routine they performed for the BC Summer Games Friday.

Normally, swimmers competing work on their routines for nine to 10 months, said 15-year-old swimmer Maleka Rostami, of Coquitlam.

For this routine, the swimmers from several clubs had just three to four weeks to get their moves down pat.

“It was like stressful,” said Rostami. “Somehow by the last week we got it all picked up.”

Rostami has been swimming for nine years and is a member of the Vancouver Pacific Wave team.

The Zone 4 head coach Rosilyn Tegart gave credit to the team for learning so quickly.

“It’s been really fun, it’s been quite a learning experience,” she said.

The teams are competing at Langley’s Walnut Grove Recreation Centre pool.
