BASEBALL: Vancouver Coastal defeats Fraser River

Vancouver Coastal held on to a very close and exciting lead to defeat Fraser River 2 to 0.

Abbie Bosten drove in Vancouver Coastals 1st run in the second inning and Meghan Hendrickson drove in the only other run of the game in the 3rd. The last 4 innings were scoreless but certainly not short of great defensive plays by both sides.

Fraser River made a beautiful double play in the third and shortstop Meghan Hendrickson made all three outs in the bottom of the third. Another beautiful double play by Fraser River ended Vancouver Coastal's 6th inning.

Vancouver Coastal moved Meghan Hendrickson from short to pitcher in the 6th. A key run down and a 4 pitch strike out ended Fraser Rivers chance to close the gap in the 6th. Fraser River managed to get two on in the bottom of the last inning but an exciting ground out clinched Vancouver Coastals victory

Jake Geboers ,Vancouver Coastals coach acknowledged a good game and play by both sides. He expressed how proud he was of his entire team

Meghan Hendrickson said she was very nervous coming in late in the game to replace starting pitcher Sam Costello but added that the girls comforted her and helped her settle in. Quite humbly she added that the close win was a total team effort.
