Taking on the host role for the BC Winter Games is a huge undertaking and is a fantastic example of how FSJ has brought its energy, civic pride and can-do community spirit together to make the Games uniquely theirs. PETRONAS Canada is pleased to be part of this event as a sponsor, but also as employees and volunteers who are proud to call this community home.

“At PETRONAS Canada, we’re always looking to improve, to raise the bar on our personal best. It’s why the support we’ve given to this event is so meaningful to us,” says Liz Hannah, Vice-President, External Affairs & Communications, PETRONAS Canada. “We’re looking forward to celebrating the energy and dedication of the volunteers and the organizers of the Games, and to cheering on this amazing high-performing cohort of athletes who’ll be striving to beat their own personal bests.”

PETRONAS Canada and the Winter Games organizers have jointly made it possible for Olympic bobsleigh athlete Alysia Rissling to attend. Alysia will be on hand to meet, encourage, and inspire the 1,000 plus athletes performing in the games. Folks in FSJ may know Alysia from the great work she has done and continues to do as part of the Classroom Champions program.

PETRONAS Canada has been working in the Peace River region for more than 15 years and has been a part of the Fort St. John community for just as long. As one of the largest natural gas resource owners in the country we are focused on lessening our environmental footprint, and fostering productive and mutually beneficial relationships with the First Nation and local communities where we work.
