After this weekend, the New Totem Archery Club will have six certified archery judges. This rare opportunity has only been made possible by the fact that the 2020 BC Winter Games are being hosted here in Fort St. John! This weekends competition marks the final step in our local volunteers receiving their certification, which in turn will open up some major local opportunities for archery. There is a competency and practical component to the certification which the judges have been working towards for the past year.

"This is super important and much needed here in the north" said Rick Scammell, head archery judge at this weekends Games and the Judge Chair for the BC Archery Association. "We will now be able to host regional, provincial and national level events" said Andy Fochuk, Vice President of the New Totem Archery Club.

The archery event has been organized predominantly by local club members. "They are very involved" noted Fochuk. There will be 3 different classes of events this weekend, compound bow, recurve bow and bare bow (a recurve bow with no sights or stabilizers). "Most athletes start out on a bare bow" noted Scammell, then switch to either compound or recurve as they progress in skill level. Both boys and girls will be competing in all the events over the course of the weekend.

Archery is taking place at the Kids Arena Field House. We encourage you to come down and check out all the events!
