A Fraser Valley (Zone 3) equestrian competitor has risen to the top at the BC Summer Games in Nanaimo.Equestrian competitor Courtnay Palleson, 15, took the lead on day two of the three day event. Palleson and her 11 year-old Thoroughbred mare named Beauty won their second gold medal dressage at the games by posting an impressive score of 69.516.

Palleson was raised in Surrey and has been horseback riding for the past decade. In addition to learning the dressage discipline, Palleson also has experience with jumping.

“I think it’s important to be an all-rounder,” she told the BC Summer Games.

Weekly lessons with a coach and daily practice have helped Palleson prepare for the Games.

Palleson hopes to continue her momentum and compete in the Rising Stars Dressage Show for youth in Chilliwak at the end of summer.
