Rowing was dominated by the Fraser Valley (Zone 3) at the BC Summer Games on Saturday.

Alexander Matson, 15, of Langley representing Fraser Valley took home a silver in the 100 metre mens rowing race.
The Fraser Valley dominated on the girls side and thanks to Maton's silver on the mens side, the Valley can safely say they dominated in rowing.

Matson was not only shocked that they gave out medals for his race, but also that he won one.

Matson's journey into rowing began when he made a simple comment to his mother after seeing a sign on the side of a highway about rowing.

The Fraser Valley native recalled that he looked up at his mom and said “I’m going to do that.”

Matson, who was an avid hockey player, said it was hard to hang up the hockey skates to pick up the paddles, but ended up loving the decision.
