Vancouver Island-Central Coast takes wrestling team gold

The Vancouver Island-Central Coast (Zone 6) team added eighteen more medals to their BC Summer Games count thanks to their wrestlers. With all matches combined they earned 150 points to win the overall gold medal in the sport.

Within the eighteen medals they had 8 golds.

The gold medals were won by Kayden Dorma (Cobble Hill, boys 60 kg) Aaron Badovinac (Port Alberni, boys 63 kg), John Fayad (Victoria, boys 66 kg), Dean Leyland (Port Alberni, boys 78 kg), Nolan Badovinac (Port Alberni, boys 84 kg), Faye Tuck (Nanaimo, girls 57 kg), Ali McPhee (Campbell River, girls 64 kg),and Isaac McDonald (Port Alberni, boys 45 kg).

Vancouver Island-Central Coast had 6 silvers. Thanks to Conlan Foy (Campbell River, boys 57), Johannes Kulich (Port Alberni, boys 70 kg), Ben Burges (Parksville, boys 74 kg), Andrea Morris (Lake Cowichan, girls 47 kg), Emma McGowan (Port Alberni, girls 64 kg), and Luke Bromley (Parksville, boys 90 kg).

And the 4 bronze were from Petro Kindy-Olsen (Campbell River, boys 78), Heather Morrison (Ucuelet, girls 54), Michel Kurucz (Port Alberni, girls 60), and Claudie DeMuylder (Courteney, girls 64).

With silver in the team category was the Fraser Valley (Zone 3) with 139 points. They had 17 medals. The count was 8 gold, 4 silver, and 5 bronze.

Gold’s were from Eknoor Bajwa (boys 51 kg), Amar Atwal (boys 54), James Hunter (boys 70 kg), Trevor Weltzin (boys 74 kg), Jacqueline Lew (girls 47), Gagan Malay (girls 51 kg), Ciara Corbett (girls 54 kg), and Dilavar Garcha (boys 90).

The silvers came by the wins of Tejpal Kullar Tejpal (boys 54 kg), Navdeep Dhillon (boys 60 kg), Sunita Sewak (girls 57 kg), and Pravi Dhaliwal (girls 60 kg).

Nicholas Lew (boys 54 kg), Jaskarn Khela (boys 57 kg), Nevreet Gill (boys 66 kg), Jeerinjot Dhinsa (boys 70 kg), and Manraj Johal (boys 84 kg) won the bronze.

The Vancouver-Squamish (Zone 5) team won a total of 12 medals (2 gold, 7 silver, and 3 bronze) to put them in 3rd with 97 points.
