The Board and staff of the BC Games Society congratulate former Co-Chair and Honourary Board member, Marion Lay, on being inducted to Canada's Sports Hall of Fame.

Marion is a respected and valued leader who has been a major force in the growth, development, and success of many organizations and initiatives in the Canadian sport system.

An Olympic bronze medalist in swimming from the 1968 Olympic Games, Marion has brought her passion for sport and especially women in sport to organizations such as the Canadian Association for Advancement of Women in Sport and Physical Activity (CAAWS) and ProMotion Plus.  She played a key role as the Chair of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Bid Corporation and then headed up the innovative 2010LegaciesNow Society.

As the Co-Chair of the BC Games Society from 1996-2001, Marion led the organization through a major transition from annual events to a biennial events with a new focus on the early stages of athlete development.  Due to her valued contributions, she was named as an Honourary Board Member for the Society.

Marion Lay is truly deserving of being inducted to the Hall of Fame beside many other Canadian heroes.

Earlier this fall, Marion was presented with the Order of BC - another prestigious honour that speaks to her influence and leadership in British Columbia.
