Swimming: Kootenays team celebrating team spirit on deck

Girls Jayden White, Chloe Mayes, Kayla Fraser and Kira Konkin may not have won a medal for the 200m Medley Relay, they all had personal best times and seemed to have the most fun while doing it.

You were drawn to this team cheering on the pool deck, in their bright yellow shirts (all signed with positive little notes like a year book).  They were dripping with enthusiasm and with a bin full of props like clappers and a glowing yellow duck they lovingly named “Bertha the Birdie”; had a ton of fun.

The team placed fourth (only four seconds behind third place winners) but was still thrilled with how they competed as a team. Chloe Mayes said “we feel like a family and we only met five days ago”. “I’ve learned so many new tips from the other swimmers” added Chloe. Jayden White, who mentions in her bio that her coach Dave Chisholm has helped her become more successful from the simple motto “just swim it” said “I’ve enjoyed working with other swimmers and coaches”.
