Rowing: Parents Comment on this Amazing Sport

Parent, Sue Robinson, mentions how her son became interested in rowing after a day trip put on by his teacher. This sport “totally builds confidence, mentorship and role models mixed with all ages” said Robinson. The “kid’s train all year, every night from 6 to 8pm including cardio, swimming, weight training, rock climbing and skiing. In the summer months they are on the lake from 8:30 to 2:30, Monday to Friday” said Robinson.

This sport requires dedication and a team spirit, parent Colleen Tabata said, “they get physically motivated working as a team and winning medals solidifies the hard work”. Parent, Shannon Beglaw, said “even if a team comes in last everyone is cheering shouting words of encouragement. They all respect each other and share equipment and at times when needed an athlete with assist another team” said Beglaw.

Parents were proud as they mentioned how experienced athletes showed new athletes their Out Rigger skills which resulted in gold medals being won. All the way around parents agree that this sport brings everyone involved together forming strong bonds and many friendships.
