It is National Volunteer Week and the BC Games Society wants to say thank you to the thousands of volunteers who dedicate their time and energy to make the BC Winter and BC Summer Games a success.

Our incredible volunteers create an exceptional and unique experience for British Columbia’s best young athletes.  Did you know...

  • Volunteers prepare over 32,000 meals over four days.
  • Volunteers set up 3500 foam mattresses and transform over 200 classrooms into dormatories for Games participants.
  • Volunteers move 10,000 pieces of luggage over four days - that's the equivalent of moving over 50,000 pieces of luggage once each.
  • Volunteers manage the transportation of all participants around the host community.  For the four days of the Games the transportation system is the fourth largest in the province.
  • Volunteers coordinate the presentation of 2000 medals at 200 medal presenatation ceremonies .
  • Volunteers take over 12,000 photographs to capture the Games and all photos are available for download on Flickr.

Please have a look at the video we created to pay tribute to all of our volunteers!
