Right after winning their gold medal, the Matthew McCrady rink was at a loss to describe the winning feeling.
The Zone 4 Fraser River squad – including Zac Curtis, Liam Purgavie and Jacob Umbach – has curled together for two years, and attributed the win to “sticking together, no matter what.”
They edged out Matt Schiman rink from Zone 2 Thompson-Okanagan, a team in their first year together (Ben Morin, second; Adam Rabar, third; Andrew Cowell, lead).
For Heather Drexel, skip of the Fraser Valley Zone 3 rink from Coquitlam, a good night’s sleep on Saturday helped her squad stay “in the zone” for the final.
Drexel edged out Zone 5 Vancouver Coastal in the final. Fraser River finished bronze.
