Thompson-Okanagan dominates on the hill

After listening to Olympian Kristi Richards at the opening ceremony, freestyle skiers took to Richards’ home hill, Apex Mountain Resort, for big air competition.

In juvenile female, Vancouver-Coastal skiier Michelle MacPherson took gold with Jessica Linton, from Fraser River, capturing silver and Countney MacDonald from Thompson-Okanagan earning bronze.

In youth big air women’s, Skye Clarke from Vancouver-Coastal claimed gold. Fraser Valley’s Maya Mikkelsem was second and Thompson-Okanagan’s Jordan MacDonald was third.

It was a clean sweep for the Thompson-Okanagan in the juvenile big air event. Gold went to Liam Collyer. Stirling Peters and Brayden Kurodo collected silver and bronze, respectively.

For youth big air male, Vancouver-Coastal Kai Smart collected gold and Benjamin Lynch captured silver while Thompson-Okanagan’s Alexander Henderson collected bronze.

On Saturday Penticton’s Anna Spence and Brayden Kuroda collected each gold medals in juvenile moguls female and male division, competing on Kristi’s run at Apex Mountain Resort.

"I achieved my goal, I always wanted a gold and finally I get the gold in my last Games." said Spence. "I'm kind of shocked."

Courtney MacDonald won silver and Linton won bronze from Fraser River in the female division. Vancouver-Coastal’s Sam Cordell captured silver and Maxwell Todd, Thompson-Okanagan, won bronze.
