SWIMMING: Opening race kicks off competition

Vancouver-Coastal's Skyla MacDonald won the BC Summer Games girls 400 metres individual medley swim heat 1 with a time of 5:40.60 at the Centennial Pool on Friday morning.

MacDonald had a strong start that she was able to keep up and managed to win with a time of 5:40.60.

She beat Fraser Valley's Selina Schmelcher who came in second place with a time of 5:42.00 and North East's Isabel Stratton who came in third with a time of 5:57.10.

MacDonald beat out a total of six swimmers to get the win.

More swimming events will happen later today including, Boys 400 IM, Mixed 50 Breast Para-swimming Multi-Class, Mixed 100 Breast Para-swimming Multi-Class, Girls 100 Breast Special Olympics, Boys 100 Breast Special Olympics, Girls 50 Free Prelims, Boys 50 Free Prelims, Girls 100 Breast Prelims, Boys 100 Breast Prelims, Mixed 200 Free Para-swimming Relay Multi-Class, Girls 200 Free Special Olympics Relay, Boys 200 Free Special Olympics Relay, Girls 200 Back Prelims, Boys 200 Back Prelims, Girls 200 Fly Prelims, Boys 200 Fly Prelims, Girls 200 Free Prelims, and Boys 200 Free Prelims.
