It was a Fraser Valley zone 3 sweep of the girls 100m race.

Langley's Natalia Monro crossed the finish line first, just ahead of Maple Ridge's Chisom Obioha, with another Langley competitor, Jordan Jacobs just a fraction behind.

Monro won the race in 12.63, a hair ahead of Obioha's 12.64.

Jacobs wasn't far behind at 12.85.

The trio were competing in the finals of the girls 100m race on Friday afternoon at Rotary Stadium on day one of the BC Summer Games in Abbotsford.

"It feels so great because I worked so hard for it and God helped me through," said the 15-year-old Monro, who also thanked her coaches, parents and teammates.

"They helped push me along the way," she said about her teammates.

Winning the 100m race was a good feeling Monro admitted, especially after finishing in second place in four different events the prior weekend in Nanaimo at the BC Athletics track and field jamboree.

"It feels nice to win, especially after coming close the week before."
