The Canadian Junior Curling Championships get underway in Victoria on January 21.  All eight curlers representing British Columbia are BC Games alumni and five have competed at both a BC Games and for Team BC at the Canada Games.

One the men's side, the Tardi rink features Cloverdale-based Tardi (skip) and his brother Jordan Tardi (second), Burnaby’s Sterling Middleton (third) and Langley’s Nicholas Meister (lead).

  • Tyler Tardi, 2012 and 2014 BC Winter Games, 2015 Canada Winter Games
  • Jordan Tardi, 2012 BC Winter Games
  • Sterling Middleton, 2014 BC Summer Games, 2015 Canada Winter Games
  • Nicholas Meister, 2010 and 2012 BC Winter Games

The team are the defending BC champions and got a bronze medal nationally last year. In addition, Tyler Tardi and Sterling Middleton won a gold medal the Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer last year as part of a mixed team with two female curlers from Nova Scotia.

One the women's side Team Brown features:

  • Corryn Brown, 2010 and 2012 BC Winter Games, 2011 Canada Winter Games
  • Dezaray Hawes, 2014 BC Winter Games, 2015 Canada Winter Games
  • Samantha Fisher, 2010 and 2012 BC Winter Games, 2011 Canada Winter Games
  • Marika Van Osch, 2010 and 2012 BC Winter Games.

This isn’t the first title for the Brown rink, although this team have only been playing together a year. Corryn and Samantha Fisher won the BC title in 2013 and followed that up with a win at the national level. Corryn and Samantha also won the BC title in 2015. This season the duo was joined by 2016 BC champions Dezaray Hawes and Marika Van Osch, who had been members of the Daniels rink who were second in this championship.
