The BC Lacrosse Association was presented with the Wendy Ladner-Beaudry Sport Achievement Award at the annual Sport BC Athlete of the Year Awards held today in Richmond.  The award was presented by Wendy’s sister, Nancy Edmonds, and Kelly Mann, President and CEO of the BC Games Society.  The award recognizes BC Lacrosse for its important involvement in the BC Summer Games; Games which serve as a critical development opportunity for the sport, and for its outstanding efforts as a progressive, dynamic, and professional Provincial Sport Organization.

Serving over 16,000 registered athletes and over 7,000 active volunteers, the British Columbia Lacrosse Association supports and develops the lacrosse community and its collective culture -- to learn, to play, to develop, to compete, to educate, to train, to have fun, and to succeed -- by providing lacrosse programs and services throughout the Province of BC.

Wendy Ladner-Beaudry was the Co-Chair of the BC Games Society from 2005 until her sudden passing in April 2009.  She joined the Board in 2003.  The BC Games Society Board of Directors initiated the Wendy Ladner-Beaudry Sport Achievement Award to honour Wendy and her commitment to amateur sport.  Wendy’s vision, passion, and influence will forever be marked through her legacy of fair play, openness, and spirit.

“The BC Lacrosse Association has long embraced the opportunities presented by the BC Summer Games.  Encouraging young athletes through quality coaching, while providing opportunity to grow their sport through their field and box disciplines, the BCLA does so with great professionalism and pride,” said Kelly Mann, BC Games Society President and CEO.
