The wheelchair-basketball team of Zone 3 Fraser Valley won the final of the Penticton 2016 BC Winter Games last Sunday. The team played a tight and exciting game versus Zone 6 Vancouver Island-Central Coast resulting in a victory with 41-35.

“It feels great to win such a big competition,” said Colin Huppee, 16, from Maple Ridge after the important game, “and for me it is always about winning, so I am really happy about our achievements.” He adderd that the Penticton 2016 BC Winter Games are the biggest competition he has participated in so far. “I think it is great to have the opportunity to be here and to compete with other people in your age,” said Huppee.

Huppee, whose 16th birthday was one day before their great victory, got into playing wheelchair-basketball at the age of 13. “I got into doing this sport because I heard about the program and I was excited about it because I am not able to play real basketball,” explained Huppee.

His team for the Penticton 2016 BC Winter Games from Zone 3 Fraser Valley was very successful with not one defeat during the whole Games.
