With their first game in the Abbotsford 2016 BC Summer Games, the Fraser Valley rugby team defeated Thompson- Okanagan with a final score of 17- 12.

The first try of the game was scored by the Fraser Valley. Shortly after, Thompson-Okanagan scored a try tying the game. Finally the Fraser Valley was able score two tries in the second half to secure the win.

Fraser Valley coach Stuart Crowley thought that it was a really good game. Both teams fought very hard, something that he expected. He added,"I don’t believe that there is going to be an easy game, it went basically how he had predicted it would go, even though it was close I had the confidence in the girls that they were going to come out in the second half a lot more stronger and be a lot more effective."

They did just that. The Fraser Valley team had a better defence in the second half and they were a lot more patient which allowed them to score and secure the win.

"This was what we wanted, but just indicative of how tough this tournament is going to be.’’ Crowley added. This tournament brings the best of the best from all around British Columbia.

Games continue until 2 p.m. today, with games also on Saturday and Sunday.
