National Volunteer Week

National Volunteer Week

National Volunteer Week was April 23-29 and we took time to extend a heartfelt "thank you" to our volunteers for the hours of dedication and commitment they give to ensure exceptional experiences for everyone involved in the BC Games.  We are honoured to count these people as valuable members of our team.

And who can say thank you better than the athletes themselves!  Have a look at our volunteer appreciation video and also hear from two volunteers who shared their thoughts on #WhyIVolunteer.

Cowichan Games & Guidelines

Games & Guidelines

The 2018 BC Summer Games will take place in Cowichan next summer and the Board of Directors are now in place.  BC Games Society staff led a Games and Guidelines session for these dedicated leaders which introduced the planning resources that will guide their work for the next 14 months.

"We finally made it official with our first meeting of our appointed Board of Directors.  Monday night was full of anticipation and excitement as we rolled out each of the 14 Directorates.  This process is a well oiled machine. The materials and support provided by BC Games Society makes this a smooth transition as they hand over responsibility to each Director.  We have also been extremely lucky to have the awesome support of our liaisons which include Cowichan Tribes, Cowichan Valley Regional District, North Cowichan, City of Ladysmith and School District 79.  I am excited about the great team we have assembled and look forward to diving into this great adventure with everyone involved."

Ryan Cochrane - Honourary Captain

Ryan Cochrane

Team BC announced Olympian and Team BC alumnus, Ryan Cochrane, as the Honourary Captain for the 2017 Canada Summer Games.

Recognized as one of Canada’s most accomplished athletes, Cochrane started his journey to international success as a member of Team BC at the 2005 Canada Summer Games in Regina where he won five medals in swimming.

"Team BC has a very strong history at the Canada Games, and I’m delighted to be able to support our next generation of athletes,” said Cochrane. “These Games are a major stepping stone to the international level and I know our team from BC will be one of the toughest, ready to take on the rest of the country."

Stay Connected with Us

Stay Connected

As the managers of the BC Winter and BC Summer Games and the Team BC program, we send out monthly e-newsletters and other updates from time-to-time about these programs. As someone connected with our organization, we appreciate the opportunity to keep you informed about the Games and sport. We are committed to sending you content that we hope would never be considered as "spam" and would like to keep you connected with the BC Games and the sport system in British Columbia.

With the final implementation of the Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation coming into effect on July 1st, 2017, we will be culling our distribution lists for our monthly newsletter and general update emails.

In accordance with our Games participation waiver, we will keep Games volunteers and participants on distribution lists for two years at the conclusion of the Games (e.g. participants and volunteers from the 2016 BC Winter Games will no longer be included in distribution emails after February 2018). If you have a business, formal, or ongoing relationship with us, we will continue to connect with you on items specifically related to that ongoing relationship.

If you would like to remain on distribution lists beyond the expiry of your involvement, please select the STAY CONNECTED link below to provide your information.

As always, if you confirm now, you are able to unsubscribe at any time on our website or using the link at the bottom of each email transmission.

On behalf of the BC Games Society, thank you all for your continued support of the Games. We hope to continue to keep in touch with you.
