September 2015

It was a summer of great success for BC Games alumni at the 2015 Western Canada Summer Games and at the 2015 Pan Am and Parapan Am Games.  Our wonderful coaches are the focus this month as we launch the Coach Mentorship Program and celebrate National Coaches Week!

Team BC Success

WCSG Team

334 Team BC athletes showcased their commitment to sport through 280 podium performances including 134 gold, 85 silver, 61 bronze at the 2015 Western Canada Summer Games. Team BC topped the medal count and was awarded the Western Canada Summer Games trophy.

BC Games alumni represented 44% of Team BC and 147 alumni won or contributed to Team BC's 280 medals at the Games.

“I am incredibly proud of our entire team,” said Diane St-Denis, Team BC Chef de Mission.  "The athletes, coaches, and managers showed tremendous pride and spirit both on and off the field of play and represented our province to the very best of their ability. The venues were top notch, the volunteers passionate about their community, and the memories will last a lifetime.”

Coach Mentorship Program

Coach Mentor

The BC Games Mentorship Program is a partnership between ViaSport and the BC Games Society and is designed to assist coaches in enhancing and developing their coaching skills in pursuit of higher levels of coaching certification.  Applications are now being accepted for the 2016 BC Winter and BC Summer Games.
